The video is a huge inter textual reference to the genre of film known as film noir, we can tell this from what they are wearing, the lighting and the setting of the video. We can assume that the man in the video is an exterminator because he enters the apartment with poisonous gas in an attempt to kill the centipedes however he ends up burning the apartment without killing the centipedes, this is a recurring theme within the video he also tries to kill a centipede with an axe but only ends up destroying the apartment. Right at the end of the video the man turns into a centipede, he ends up turning into what he was trying to destroy, and right at the end of the video he ends up dead, with the cracked mirror next to him. The cracked mirror is a constant within the video it is in the video throughout.
The video is connected to the lyrics with the word 'centipede' but in general music videos of this type of music don't really have any conventions and tend to be relatively random and unconnected to the music.
